FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) Thank you very much to all of you who worked so hard for the successful organization of our St. Stephen’s Picnic last Sunday. I know it was a warm day and a lot had to be done. Your dedication to our parish is appreciated. If you have not volunteered this year and you are in a position to do so, please consider helping out at any of our events. We are always grateful for an extra pair of hands. The profit for the parish from this picnic was $5,189 which includes the winner of the 50/50 raffle donating his winnings back to our parish. I am grateful to all our supporters of our parish and keep them in our prayers, especially during the monthly Mass that is offered for them.

(2) Next Sunday, I will be saying Mass at the Scouts’ Day in German Central Park at 11AM. We will still have Mass here at St. Emeric at 11:15AM and a visiting priest will serve it.

(3) For those of you who were registered parishioners at St. Elizabeth of Hungary parish as of August 13, 2023, we will have a parish appreciation dinner on September 10 at St. Elizabeth. That day, we will have Mass at 11, after which we will gather downstairs for a meal. Please RSVP by September 5. A sign-up sheet is available at the doors of the St. Elizabeth Shrine, or you may call me at 216-965-0061 (St. Emeric rectory).

(4) Recently we replaced the old, inefficient, incandescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs throughout the church building. Nearly 120 individual LED bulbs were installed in the light fixtures in the church nave (where the pews are) and organ loft, all the side classrooms, the downstairs large hall and bar, and in the stairwells. The cost for these bulbs was about $1,200. However, the bulbs should last for decades, significantly lowering the parish’s electricity costs through the years, and they have nicely brightened all areas where some of the lights were dim at best. Thank you to Peter Balassy, Michael Horvath and Louis Zsula for their efforts in obtaining the right bulbs and installing them. Donations to help pay for this project are always welcome and appreciated!

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION: Legion of Mary of the Diocese of Cleveland invites you to a traditional Eucharistic Procession on Saturday, September 2, 2023 beginning with Holy Mass at 11am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland. The event consists of Holy Mass celebrated by Fr.
