MASS INTENTIONS FOR THE COMING WEEK:
| December | 5 | Saturday | No Latin Mass | |
| December | 6 | Sunday | 9:30AM | Mosoni Family, by Karetka Family |
FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Advent has a twofold character: as a season to prepare for Christmas when Christ’s first coming to us is remembered; as a season when that remembrance directs the mind and heart to await Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time. Advent is thus a period for devout and joyful expectation (General Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar, 39).
Today we bless our advent wreath and light the first candle that symbolizes hope and patriarchs of the Old Testament. The first candle is sometimes called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, especially Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ. Thus, the first candle calls to mind the expectation felt in anticipation of the coming Messiah.
PRAYER FOR ADVENT SEASON: Behold: your king is coming to you, a just savior is He (Zech 9:9). Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for coming into this world to help mankind and to show him the right way. Forgive me if I forgot the importance of your coming. Eradicate all my doubts and pour thoughts of Advent into my heart. Let me experience the fact that you are coming to us today anew. Keep me alert so that I may welcome you with joy. Move into our country, our house, our community, and our hearts. Amen
