My Dear Friends,
As it is well-known, the majority of the Cleveland Hungarian community was concentrated along Buckeye Road and the surrounding area, which functioned as a small Hungarian city. Unfortunately, the Hungarian character of the neighborhood has all but disappeared, and all that remains is the first Hungarian Roman Catholic church built in the United States.
It is imperative that we try to protect this sanctuary, which we can call our Hungarian-American community’s national shrine, for the present and equally as well for the future. To accomplish this goal, it is an indispensable requirement that we support St. Elizabeth Church with our presence and financial contributions because this small congregation is unable to cover its expenses. If this trend does not change, we will have to close our beloved church very soon or relinquish it to another congregation, a situation that we cannot even begin to entertain!
For this very reason, we are trying to organize more events, dinners, concerts, and celebrations, which call upon the hearts of all those who have a spiritual connection to the parish. Our next event will be the St. Elizabeth Fall Festival, which will also serve as an international folk dance recital.

Place: St. Elizabeth Parish Hall
Bilingual Holy Mass: 11:00 AM

Árpád János Potápi, Hungarian Secretary of State for National Policy
The festival’s primary aims are to nurture Hungarian identity and to acquaint all those who value the ethnic diversity of Cleveland with our culture. For this reason, the presence of the wider Cleveland Hungarian-American community will play a significant role in making this experience all the more valuable. We look forward to displaying our cultural treasures to as wide a group as possible, to all those who love Hungarian food and culture! Details can be found in the accompanying flyer, on our website, www.stelizabethcleveland.org, or on our Facebook Page, “Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church Cleveland OH.”
I respectfully ask every good-intentioned, culture-loving friend to support our Hungarian Festival with their presence. If you are financially able to sponsor our event or are willing to volunteer your time, please call the Rectory at (216) 231-0325.
God Bless You,
Rev. András Mezei
